rum jogger

On Easter Sunday, my brother and I had the great idea to soak pineapple that my mom had bought in rum. He and I don’t like pineapple much on its own, so we figured a good smothering in alcohol on the day of our Lord’s resurrection might make it taste better? No idea, actually, what we were thinking. But it turned out to be pretty tasty.

While we tinkered, we came up with this perdy li’l drink. I later realized that what we concocted was very similar to a rum runner. It’s the same pineapple/grenadine/rum idea, but with less banana-ness and for $20 cheaper. It’s like we wanted to be a rum runner…but just didn’t quite make it. Hence the name. Not so catchy, no. But that won’t matter when you’re jogging.

Rum Jogger *Ages 21+ only

Makes one drink

1 ounce light rum

1 ounce orange vodka

3-4 ounces pineapple juice

club soda

grenadine

orange slice (optional), for garnish

Put vodka, rum and pineapple juice into a shaker with ice (don’t shake with the club soda…ha ha). Pour into an 8-12 ounce glass (we had ice in ours…clearly), and top with club soda, to taste. Add a splash of grenadine. Leave unstirred for the ombre effect. Garnish with a slice of orange.  Please always drink responsibly.
